I hope this means an increase in resolution of iTunes artwork. I know it's unrelated to the OS but one can hope!
Does Apple set a cap on that? I expect it's up to the publishers to put in their artwork, and they're more likely to blame if you're encountering low resolution stuff.
When you attach artwork to items yourself in iTunes, it can be extremely high-resolution -- not sure what or if there is a limit, but if it exists, it's high enough not to be a problem.

Not possible with current laptop architecture. The only x86 CPUs AFAIK that are capable of multi-socket systems are Opterons and Xeons.

OK, I've had it on my MBP for about 3 weeks and I've noticed the spinning beach ball a lot more than I remember... no crashes though.
I've just taken it off; or at least tried to. I used AppDelete and it took off everything except the icon on my top bar. When I click on the icon, it says there are updates available... dooooh...
Reinstall it and use the built-in uninstaller. NEVER trust anything but official uninstallers when it comes to antivirus apps.

Well it's certainly good to see new computers, but they really are aimed at high level tasks. These machines use server technology, rather than technology developed for the retail sector.
Interesting points I see are the use of ECC RAM (this is not at all unusual for servers, but very expensive because it's usually paid for by a company's server budget), and I didn't see any mention of onboard hardware RAID, which is a bit disappointing when you've got all of this other fancy stuff going on.
I'd also be interested to see, from an environmental perspective, how its power consumption levels compare with an equivalent consumer PC.

What I expect is not much:
Movie download service (with less than 100 movies, all current resolution of music video,s).
Updated Nano and iPod (size of flash/hard drive on both updated).
That is it. Thats all I believe we will see...
What Id like to see but think it will come out later, before Christmas:

I believe that the movie service will not rely on new TVs or Macs. That would cut out way to many PC users and people that do not want to buy a new TV. I truly believe who EVER said there will be a 3rd iPad in the fall actually pulled it out of their a**.... like kids, just can't wait and be patient. Now that person has got everyone thinking their will be an iPad 3 in the fall

They released the C2D iMACS altogether. I would be really surprised if they didn't do AT LEAST the same to their pro line-ups.

Witness the introduction of the Al case and the Intel switch. Of course it matters whether this is a major update. If, like the iMacs, there is not a major case redesign and it is just a processor bump then expect them to be released simultaneously. But if there is a change in case, I would be surprised (pleasantly though) if the 17 came out at the same time.

Almost EVERY cell phone that's ever existed has tracked your phone in some form of fashion and stored it on the device. This is nothing new but just because it's an iPhone it's a big deal.
People need to find other things to worry about cause this shouldn't be it.

Personally, I think that iP4 is the most aesthetically pleasing phone on the market. I'm not surprised to hear they will not change the design because the transition from 3G to 3Gs was similar.
The faster processor isn't necessarily a good enough reason for me to upgrade because the apps that I use regularly perform more than adequately on my iP4 (probably on 3G/3Gs models too). If I decide to start shooting more video (and editing it) or do other heavy lifting on my phone I will consider upgrading.
That being said, I think it is important for Apple to upgrade to a dual core processor, increase the memory, and make it capable of using at least one 4G network to compete with the latest Android based phones on the market.

I've just been wanting one for so long, and all I've been waiting for is a processor trade-out, that I'll be happy with just that. Of course I'll be quite please if they implement the easy access HD bay. Better still, a better gfx card would make me pee my pants a little.

That's right, I'm a customer, and I'll modify my apple device how I see fit, and that including jailbreaking, enabling XCode to develop applications for my device without paying apple $99 ( afterall,nothing is going to reach the appstore - so why does Apple deserve the $99 ?). At the end of the day - a JB device is more useful than a locked up device.
LOL! Did the policy change? iOS dev kit was free and the $99 was if you wanted to join the developers program. Either way... $99 to join a developers program is cheap. Yeah... not free... but not $1500 or more like many other companies who have developer programs.
And yes, you do have your "right" to modify your iPhone as you see fit. But I have to agree with Apple on this one... encouraging people to JB for a silly and ugly Scion theme is not good commercial business. What they should say is "Void your Apple warrantee and install our ugly Scion theme". No company should encourage the public to do things that will bust their warrantee and Apple has the rights to "put the brakes" on this Toyota. :D

Nobody forces you to store your music there. You can always store it on your computer if you want. Funny how you can see extra feature as a "limitation". I bet that when Apple offers similar service (just more expensive) you'll call it a "revolutionary" feature.
No one forces you now. I was talking in terms of future limitations. I was also speaking in the abstract, meaning any company to offer a service of this nature will "probably" impose some sort of restrictions to gouge money from the consumer. Again, speaking in future terms. Otherwise, what is the point of building some grand service if it has no advantage economically? Companies are out to make money.
