Just curious on what everyones process at BB was. I walked in and signed a sheet of paper with barcodes and a picture of the iPhone 4. I paid 50 for a GC and they put my name down on a list for a 9am appointment on launch day. I just want to see if BB has the same procedures everywhere else.
yes, except they told me they'd give me a call sometime before the 24th as to when i can pick up my phone. it could be on the 24th, but it could also be a later date.

Not in my opinion. I think each OS release has been evolutionary, but not revolutionary.
Tiger added Widgets, which have surely been revolutionary...
I remember when WWDC last happened and Steve Jobs showing Spotlight was on TV!

I wasn't surprised to read that Rosetta is faster than before. My recent upgrade from PPC 1.42 GHz to Intel 2.16 Ghz has made Photoshop fly. I don't really give a rat's hindquarters about Leopard (unless it's faster/more stable), but I am kinda excited about a UB PS.

I think it's time to Retire Core Solo & Offer Two Core 2 Duo Speeds By January 2007. There's no cost reason to keep a Core Solo in the line.
Well, considering Core Solo is bound to be much cheaper than Core 2 Duo, I'd say that's a good COST reason to keep it.

anyone else get an insanely loud noise just before the instal?
Often times, for firmware updates, the fans go full blast during the firmware flash process.

Apple has posted an MPEG-4 video-on-demand stream (http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/sep_2006/event/index.html) of today's special announcement. It is unclear whether it will be broadcasting live or whether it will be a replay of the event as Apple has done in the past and as AppleInsider has claimed (http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2033). Either way, MacRumors will be providing coverage of the event as it unfolds using our state-of-the-art MacRumorsLive service.
Also, as many of you have already noticed, the Apple Store (http://store.apple.com/) has gone down for updates.

I am convinced that the interface changes we saw in iTunes are a prelude to 10.7.
I would also go with this.

I upgraded my mini to a core 2 duo. Which means that from now on, firmware updates will be just a little bit more exciting. :)
Anybody know, before I plunge in, whether this update will have any impact on my upgraded mini?
Did the update this evening on the core 2 duo mini. No problems so far.

When ethnic minority street prostitutes in Chinese border towns can turn down 100 (10) for 30 minutes work I think they are doing pretty well - that's more than I earn for 30 minutes work. How long have you been in the business?

I like the idea about changing the layout of the bottom of the laptops. However, interchangable plates!I would never buy mac if it was like that.
The multi touch poatent ages ago could be used in conjunction to make the touch pad and surrounding area into an interface, you coukld then design or make any interface you want and export them to apple online like widgets!

Just to remind you, your current version of iDVD will not disappear from your applications, they are just no longer developing, marketing and distributing iDVD. If you have iDVD and love it then you'll still have it. It will not cease to exist from your hard drives cause its not on the install disks. Remember iMovie HD to iMovie transition? they even let people download iMovie HD for free even though it wasnt in the suite - maybe they'll do something similar again. You can get it if you want but we're not going to make it default. They can even include it on the DVD as an optional install (with all of the localizations and garagebang library and all of that stuff. Personally I never liked iDVD, I never was able to get it to work but I'm excited about iWeb and i hope it does have html5 - Also, I'd like iWeb to be able to create mobile sites fairly easily.
Next is they need a consumer aperture app in the suite. Like others have said, iPhoto doesnt cut it for editing.
Lastly, I'd like to see the whole LP creation and other media creation as part of iLife. Mobile apps sound good except iWeb on iPhone would be quite challenging. I would like something where I can check on the sites and maybe even republish remotely from my desktop at home since iWeb's sites are so unreliable sometimes. Although, it might be because i'm using consumer software to create professional websites.
Anyway, can't wait for iLife & iWork 11 - hopefully with iPhone iWork apps :)

anyone know where a list of known leopard issues can be found?
They are included in the seed notes. If you have legal access to the seeds you will have access to the issues. This list is covered by an NDA so should not be publicly discussed or posted.

Sure. Lots of newbies do. A jobs a job. Beats having to say "[d]o you want fries with that?"

frankly i don't see them coming out with a new model this summer. they haven't even done their usual mid-cycle hd bump.
also everyone keeps saying that they come out with a new phone every summer. pardon, but 3gs was a new phone my s.
they didn't make a new model in time, so instead decided to dump the s "news" on us.
i imagine something similar will happen this summer. perhaps they will even update att's body to match verizon's. but somehow a whole new model just doesn't seem to fit. imho...

I don't buy it. Apple creates services that help it sell more hardware. I don't see creating a Netflix competitor would help to do that.
